We understand you feel it is inaccurate to refer to the situation in Ukraine as a "civil war" during the 'Ukraine crisis: Yanukovych regrets bloodshed in Kiev' article.
There is no agreed definition of the phrase, or when it should be applied (that is, at which precise point internal conflict becomes a civil war). However, the fighting pitches Ukrainian against Ukrainian over the future of their country and on a sufficient scale to justify our use of the term as and when appropriate.
